Mixed-signal process has 60V capability
A new BCD (bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) process permits designers to fabricate analogue and mixed-signal integrated circuits operating up to 60V.
A new BCD (bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) process permits designers to fabricate analogue and mixed-signal integrated circuits operating up to 60V.
The new, robust PolarFab PBC3 process offers a cost-effective solution for a broad range of power management and smart-power applications for consumer, automotive and industrial markets such as motor drivers, power interface drivers, and power regulations circuits.
PolarFab's new 1.5-micron PBC3 process is optimised for a wide range of voltage nodes between 5 and 60V, enabling the process to be used in a broad range of applications.
The new PBC3 process combines low voltage CMOS logic, bipolar control circuits, and DMOS transistors on a single chip, providing integrated, multifunctional chip designs.
PBC3 features 60V vertical DMOS transistors, as well as 20, 40 and 60V lateral DMOS transistors, which allow the power sections of the chip to be optimised depending upon the voltage of the application.
In addition, PBC3 features a broad set of bipolar devices such as low to high voltage NPNs, lateral PNPs, and vertical PNPs with operating capabilities up to 72V.
The PBC3 process provides a complete design environment including a Cadence process design kit (PDK), fully characterised device models, and a comprehensive design manual.
With full production using the PBC3 process set for the first quarter 2004, designers can also take advantage of PolarShuttle, PolarFab's multiproject fast-track programme, to manufacture prototypes.
