Combining the advanced application knowhow of Clarion and the expertise of Philips in semiconductor solutions for digital systems, the new business relationship should offer excellent audio and radio reception quality for the end user.

The Philips' silicon solution will become a key device in Clarion's car radio systems.

Currently, Clarion produces approximately 20 kinds of entertainment systems for OEM clients.

The new Philips' software radio DSP solution will enable standardisation, optimising cost and performance.

The system will be implemented from 2004 onwards and will result in a total of 5-6 million sets in the mainstream market.

The software radio DSP solution includes excellent multipath and antenna diversity performance, resulting in superb radio reception quality.

Enhanced audio features like adaptive ultrabass II and music elevation are examples of possible DSP functions.

It also enables standardisation to a common radio platform, which can be adapted via software to all regions around the world.
