DBTEL has begun the full-scale ramp up of next generation mobile phones and platform designs, based on Philips' innovative semiconductor technology and full software stack.
Philips' state-of-the-art cellular system solution platform provides mobile phone manufacturers with full functionality in a single design.
It comprises a full chipset featuring RF front-end, baseband, power management unit and complete GSM/GPRS software stack.
This semiconductor system can be easily integrated into a range of handset designs to dramatically reduce design-in and manufacturing costs and shorten time-to-market.
"In order to develop innovative and cost-effective platform designs for the world's leading handset manufacturers, DBTEL has used qualified expert resources to work in close co-operation with Philips' local support teams in Taiwan, mainland China and European sites", said Michael Mou, DBTEL chairman.
"Philips' innovative system designs are enabling us to offer the mobile phone market a range of competitive communication products.
We look forward to working with Philips on the integration of its latest wireless semiconductor system solutions into forthcoming generations of communication products".
"Philips' mobile strategy is to deliver not only semiconductor technology, but complete wireless mobile multimedia solutions based on its proven total system approach", said Gert-Jan Kaat, senior vice president, business unit mobile communications at Philips Semiconductors.
"Our system solution is the most advanced technology of its kind and we are delighted that DBTEL is consolidating our designs in attractive products to meet market demand in record time".
The long-term relationship between DBTEL and Philips has resulted in a new range of DBTEL platform designs and GSM/GPRS phones.
These designs are based on Philips' cellular semiconductor technology, including support from platform definition to ramp-up and industrialisation.
The new range from DBTEL consists of a wide variety of different modules.
The companies will continue to leverage their co-operation to further the development of next generation phones of the future.
