Philips has gained two more key customers for its industry-proven Nexperia DVD+R/+RW system solution.

Philips has gained two more key customers for its industry-proven Nexperia DVD+R/+RW system solution.

Vestel is the latest to use Philips' Nexperia PNX7100-based DVD+R/+RW reference design to power DVD+RW models targeted for the fast-growing consumer audio/video (A/V) market.

Within the personal computing (PC) domain, Philips' Nexperia PNX7850 processor will boost recording speeds in Quanta Storage's DVD+R/+RW slimline notebook models and half-height desktop models.

Philips' complete system solution, unveiled in Q4 2002, has been providing the industry's key manufacturers - including BenQ, Daewoo Electronics and Mico Electric - with all of the technology and software necessary to introduce DVD recording devices that are in full compliance with the industry's preferred format, DVD+R/+RW.

The ongoing strong customer support Philips has garnered this year continues to reinforce Philips' commitment to be a major technology provider for the DVD recording market and to ultimately offer consumers the benefits of the DVD+R/+RW standard - simplicity and compatibility.

"By partnering with Philips, Vestel can achieve the fastest time to market, meeting our customer's requests to have proven DVD+RW recorders on the shelves in time for the Christmas 2003 selling season", said Ihsan Alkim, Chief Technology Officer, Vestel.

"We are excited to introduce our new Nexperia PNX7100-based DVD+R/+RW recorder for the home living room environment at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) show this month".

"Philips' PNX7850 processor provides the necessary recording speeds for notebook and PC applications, supporting speeds up to 8x already this quarter", said CC Chien, President, Quanta Storage.

"Partners such as Philips have enabled Quanta Storage to deliver the quality and performance that PC-makers demand in their notebook and desktop products, solidifying our leading position as key supplier of DVD+RW optical engines".
