fans

Five further companies are to use the industry-proven Philips Nexperia DVD+R/+RW turnkey reference design Leading DVD manufacturers - Changhong, Skyworth, Argus Electronics, Syber and Xingqiu - are leveraging Philips' proven DVD+R/+RW reference design to introduce their DVD recorders quickly into the emerging consumer audio/video market

Philips was the first company to offer a complete reference design for DVD+R/+RW digital video recorders.

Since its introduction in Q4 2002, Philips' complete system solution has been providing the industry's foremost manufacturers with all of technology and software necessary to introduce robust and mature DVD recording devices in compliance with the preferred format, DVD+R/+RW.

Daewoo Electronics, Mico Electric and Tae Young Telstar incorporated Philips' DVD+R/+RW turnkey reference design and announced their DVD recorders in Q1 2003 at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Vestel and Quanta Storage announced their Philips-based DVD recorders earlier this quarter, with BenQ unveiling its end product at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) last month.

Now, Changhong, Skyworth, Argus Electronics, Syber and Xingqiu will launch DVD recorders based on Philips' DVD+R/+RW reference design.

"DVD+R/+RW is the standard that will drive innovation in the DVD recorder market", said Fengwei Lang, Director of the Board and Director of the Corporate Planning and Development, Division of Changhong, "By partnering with Philips, Changhong can utilise the latest DVD+RW technology in its new models".

"Skyworth's new Nexperia-based DVD+R/+RW recorders will provide consumers with the latest digital recording capabilities", said Henry Lau, Chairman and CEO of Skyworth Multimedia International.

"Our relationship with Philips will further our leadership in the development and manufacturing of consumer and A/V technology products worldwide".

"With Philips' DVD+RW turnkey reference design, we have been able to significantly reduce our time-to-market", said Ray Wu, Vice President of Argus Electronics.

"Argus Cyberdrive group's new DVD+RW engines will enable us to introduce in quick succession 4x and 8x speed versions for both the A/V as well as the data market".

"By choosing the Philips' DVD+RW turnkey reference design we were able to enter the market in record time", said Renyu Xia, General Manager of Syber.

"The proven solution allows us to directly offer our customers the quality they expect from a high-performance DVD-recorder".

"Philips' proven reference design continues to be selected for its high level of integration and rapid time to market", said Yizong Shen, Vice General Manager of Xingqiu.

"With Philips' complete solution, Xingqiu can roll out devices to quickly meet consumer demand during the holiday season".
