High security for smart card MCU family
Philips Semiconductors describes SmartMX as the world's first ultra-low-power cost-optimised high-performance family of smart card controller ICs.
The UCODE G2XM and UCODE G2XL provide scalable EPC numbers up to 240bit, offering flexibility when using RFID in multiple applications requiring different EPC codes and storing additional application data.
In addition, the UCODE G2XM provides 512bit user memory.
"Our newest UCODE devices are best in class for passive smart tags and labels, incorporating advanced capabilities requested by our customers, and have been fully optimised at the NXP RFID Reference Design Center in Austria", said Jan-Willem Reynaerts, General Manager, RFID, NXP Semiconductors.
"Our latest smart label ICs provide reliable operation on different materials, across long distances in environments where multiple tags and labels are read simultaneously".
Established tag and label manufacturers such as LSIS, KSW Microtec, RF IDentics, RSI ID Technologies, Tagsys and UPM Raflatac have thoroughly tested the new G2X chips, with consistently positive feedback.
Furthermore, some companies are already actively working on RFID implementations with end users based on the new NXP UCODE range in applications such as footwear, recorded media, apparel, and the manufacturing and tracking of electronic goods through global supply chains and into retail locations.
The NXP UCODE G2XM and UCODE G2XL are designed for ease of inlay assembly and high volume/yield assembly lines.
The sensitivity of the ICs allows for broadband antenna designs allowing inlets to cover the complete UHF band from 840 to 960MHz.
Both the UCODE G2XM and the UCODE G2XL are EPCglobal Class 1 Generation 2 (C1 G2) 1.2.0-compliant.
NXP offers these ICs as wafers, on straps and in surface-mount devices to its customers.
Orders for production volumes of the UCODE G2XM and UCODE G2XL are now being accepted.
