XFP transceiver with 200km reach to be displayed
A demonstration of interoperability between a 300-pin Duobinary Transponder and an ultra-long reach DWDM XFP32 Transceiver will take place at OFC/NFOEC in Anaheim, CA.
Pirelli Broadband Solutions, the broadband access and photonics company within the Pirelli Group, is to demonstrate for the first time the interoperability between its MSA 300-pin Duobinary Transponder and its ultralong reach DWDM XFP32 Transceiver at OFC/NFOEC in Anaheim, California.
Pirelli will also bring its complete range of tunable and pluggable solutions to the show.
Visitors to the Pirelli booth (no 3011) will see demonstrated a 200km-reach XFP transceiver and an MSA 300-pin duobinary transponder working together through 200km of standard single-mode fibre without using dispersion compensation units.
The demo will include two signal generators, showing standard signal quality between Pirelli's XFP and its MSA 300-pin transponder over 200km fibre.
The demonstration is believed to be the first time that modules of this kind have been interoperable.
"Pirelli's technology enables service providers to design flexible networks covering in excess of 200km without the use of expensive dispersion compensation, simplifying network design and reducing capital and operational expenditure for carriers", says Luis Tondi, VP Business Development for Pirelli Broadband Solutions.
"With our new High Dispersion Tolerant XFP32, carriers can eliminate the need to preprovision for dispersion compensation, enabling them to easily reconfigure their networks in the future without the need to dispatch people to the field to redeploy dispersion compensation units".
Other products on display in the Pirelli booth will include: Lyte WDM Metro Access and Metro Core System, a low-cost, expandable CWDM platform; Pirelli Dynamically Tunable Laser (DTL), an external cavity laser in a standard butterfly package designed for DWDM optical network systems; Pirelli ITLA, a compact module with built-in tunable laser and control electronics; Pirelli High Power DWDM XFP16; and the Pirelli MSA 300PIN NRZ transponder module.
