Software kit adds high-level programming interface

A Pika Technologies product story

Pika Technologies has introduced a high level application programming interface (API) available as part of the Pika MonteCarlo SDK.

Pika Technologies has introduced a high level application programming interface (API) available as part of the Pika MonteCarlo SDK.

In addition to the low level API which has been the Pika standard for many years, a new version of the SDK will also support a high level API.

The new high level API will be common across both AllOnBoard (DSP-based) and AllOnHost (host-based) implementations.

"Pika strives to make it easier and faster for designers to write applications, so they can increase their productivity and enable faster time to market", said Doug Petty, Vice President of Technology and Operations.

"To provide even more flexibility and customisation capabilities, the high level API is open source.

This will allow the developer to make modifications, depending on their application".

"We're very pleased to provide the best of both APIs to our customers", said Terry Atwood, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Care.

"With a high-level API, developers no longer have to be experts in protocols such as SIP, ISDN and CAS, each of which are extremely complex.

Developers can design applications with minimal understanding of each protocol because the high-level API abstracts media processing and call control signalling.

A high-level API is a subset or wrapper of a low-level API, and typically delivers what most developers need today.

The amount of required code is greatly reduced for each function, in effect, removing the complexity.

The high level API known as Grand Prix, will be available as part of the Pika MonteCarlo SDK by the end of June.

Pika developers will be able to download the SDK and technical documents from the Pika Developer Zone.
