Senior project consultant Mark Radford will join senior speakers from government, services and industry at DSEi 2003, when he presents at the UK's influential defence show next month.

Senior project consultant Mark Radford from Plextek's Digital Design Group will join senior speakers from government, services and industry at DSEi 2003, when he presents at the UK's influential defence show at Excel in London on 9th-12th September.

At one of the most prestigious events in the international defence calendar, Radford will speak to an invited audience at a conference, running in parallel with a major exhibition, as part of the session "Making defence affordable" on Thursday 11th September.

He will share his defence design expertise with defence suppliers from throughout the world in a presentation called "Rapid demonstrator programme is quicker than tedious specification".

This presentation will consider how rapid prototyping at the earliest stages of a programme can shorten development timescales, lower costs, reduce risks and deliver product better matched to its requirement in the field, compared with the current trend of specifying every detail of a system design.

DSEi, organised in association with the UK Ministry of Defence, combines exhibits and displays, equipment demonstrations and warship visits with trends, developments and major programmes in the defence industry.

According to event organisers, there has been a significant surge in interest recently, with attendance expected to be 25% up on the last event held in 2001, which attracted 18,000 visitors from 60 countries.
