Plextek has secured a GBP 3 million contract with Tracker, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, for the design and supply of GPS and vehicle tracking devices.

Plextek has secured a GBP 3 million contract with Tracker, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, for the design and supply of GPS and vehicle tracking devices.

These will be used in the latest generation of the Tracker stolen vehicle recovery service, which uses a dedicated network of land-based radio transmitters to pin-point the exact location of a vehicle.

The new devices are smaller and lower cost than the previous solution.

Colin Smithers, Managing Director of Plextek, commented: "We have been working with Tracker for 14 years now, supplying system and product design skills".

"This order represents a significant step in our growth from a design house to a niche supplier of communications devices and increases our involvement in our clients' success".

"Tracker is always looking to improve its products and has found Plextek to be a constant and capable source of new designs and improved technology, helping us to significantly enhance the capability of our network", said Mark Bellwood, Managing Director of Tracker.

"Plextek's move into volume supply makes them an obvious contender as a telematics supplier and we are delighted to award the company this contract".
