High efficiencies from fibre laser modules
Pro-Lite Technology has an extended series of high-stability single-mode fibre-coupled laser diode modules from Blue Sky Research, Milpitas, California.
Pro-Lite Technology has an extended series of high-stability single-mode fibre-coupled laser diode modules from Blue Sky Research, Milpitas, California.
Designated the FiberTEC series, these modules feature a temperature-stabilised fibre-coupled high-output-power laser diode with integral drive electronics.
The TE cooler serves to stabilise the output power and maintain wavelength.
The module can be jumper configured for automatic power or current control.
BSR uses its proprietary uLens microlens, beam circularisation technology to achieve very high coupling efficiencies into single-mode optical fibre.
Wavelengths available include 375, 405, 440, 473, 635 and 660nm.
Other wavelengths are available on request, up to and including 785nm The FiberTEC405 module is offered with 15, 10 or 5mW at 405nm output from a fibre 3.3um diameter, 0.08NA.
Power stability over 1h is better than 0.25% and better than 0.75% over 24h, making this module ideal for numerous diagnostic instruments including confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, particle imaging and scattering, CD mastering, spectroscopy and professional laser printing.
The standard module is only 7 x 2.4 x 1.5cm and is supplied with a permanently attached 1m fibre pigtail terminated in an FC/PC connector.
Many applications benefit from the ability to feed a fibre into an instrument without beam-steering optics and easily position a spot of a few microns in diameter where required.
Pro-Lite Technology can provide optional beam collimators 0.9, 1.25, 2.0 giving M2 less than 1.1 quality and FWHM divergences of 1mrad or less for free space applications.
Devices are now available with polarisation-maintaining single-mode optical fibre to give a linearly polarised output of better than 100:1.
The FiberTEC635 module has similar specifications to the 405 laser and is offered with output powers up to 25mW.
Just released the 375, 440 and 473nm lasers are currently available up to 3mW.
Full specifications can be obtained from Pro-Lite Technology, and units will be demonstrated at Photonex in October.
