Designed for the DC/DC convertor market, applications for the new series of transformers range from industrial controls and medical instruments, to redundant arrays of independent disks (RAID) and high-performance network servers.

The ability to develop an accurate control and/or indicating signal from an alternating current is essential for efficient and accurate feedback control, overload sensing, load drop and shutdown detection, all critical to the performance of devices such as new generation laptops and PCs.

Traditionally, generating such a signal tended to impose a high resistance to current within the transformer, leading to the generation of excess heat, a detrimental factor in compact designs and surface-mount components.

Pulse's expertise in miniaturised magnetics has kept the resistance value of the new transformers very low, helping to maintain overall system reliability.

The PB0025, PB0026 and PB0027 offer three common turns ratios - 1:50, 1:100 and 1:200 - with inductance values of 80, 180 and 320mH, respectively.

The transformers have a maximum height of 10mm.

Manufactured with a flat-top design they are ideal for pick-and-place applications, and are available in trays of 100 units or tape-and-reel packages of 300 units.

The transformers are rated for optimal performance at 50kHz and above.
