High energy density for surface-mount inductors

Two new surface mount inductor ranges are designed for applications in DC/DC convertors and AC/DC switch-mode power supplies.

Pulse has two new surface mount (SMT) inductor platforms for DC/DC convertors and AC/DC switch-mode power supplies.

The PG0067 and PG0077 inductors use high-performance helical windings that allow for low DC resistance ratings, excellent thermal efficiency and current ratings up to 33A DC.

The inductors are specially designed for distributed power architectures and are ideal for voltage regulator modules.

Product applications include high-current DC/DC convertors, servers and workstations, telecomms switches, routers and basestation equipment.

The low-profile (4.00mm) model PG0067 and the 6.50mm model PG0077 meet strict size constraints and are compatible with all contemporary pick-and-place processes.

The PG0077 series uses a distributed gap powder core that allows for stable inductance values even at two times the rated current.

Inductance values range from 0.16uH at 33A to 2.65uH at 13A.

The PG0077 package size is 14.00 x 13.50mm.

The PG0067 series uses a discrete gap core that allows for extremely low core losses in high-ripple-current applications.

Inductance values range from 0.27uH at 17A to 4.90uH at 5.0A.

The PG0067 package size is 13.00 x 12.80mm.
