Pulse has expanded its PulseJack range to include two new multiport RJ45 stacked integrated connector modules (ICMs) with enhanced power over Ethernet (PoE) capability The J20-0017 (2 x 4) and J20-0019 (2 x 6) multiport connectors will lower the component cost of a PoE-enabled hub and switch application without compromising voltage isolation (hi-pot) requirements, allowing both connectors to achieve at least 1.5kV isolation

Pulse's ChipChoke series for USB2.0 standard applications are said to eliminate common mode noise in high-speed networks.
Transformer boosts reliability and performance
Pulse, a Technitrol Company, has introduced the C2139NL RF balun transformer for radio frequency (RF) applications ranging from 5 to 1000 megahertz (MHz) bandwidth.
The ICMs are both compliant with IEEE802.3af standards providing PoE capability for both 10Base-TX and 100Base-TX applications.
The hi-pot rating for a PoE enabled ICM is important for PoE switch and hub applications since the power lines are directly connected to the cable-side receive (RX) and transmit (TX) signal centre taps.
A direct connection to the power supply in parallel with the isolating TX/RX transformers would normally degrade the voltage isolation (hi-pot) of the connector to zero.
However, by using Pulse's patented internal InterlockBase construction within each port, the adjacent port magnetic modules in the devices can be shared without sacrificing the connector's electromagnetic compatibility.
The sharing of adjacent magnetic modules allows Pulse to improve the pin-to-pin separation distance between the power feeding pins and the adjacent 10/100Base-TX signal pins to greater than 2.54mm.
This allows the connector to maintain a typical hi-pot rating of 2kV (1.5kV minimum).
The new devices also give switch manufacturers a cost-efficient, high-component-density solution that meets or exceeds IEEE802.3i/u/af and ANSI X3.263 standards.
The two PoE-enabled connectors are designed to operate over a temperature range from 0 to 70C.
The multiport connectors are able to withstand temperatures up to 235C, making them suitable for reflow soldering processes.
They are available in trays for automated pick-and-place manufacturing processes.
