New from Pulse is range of IEEE 802.3af compliant power over Ethernet (PoE), 10/100Base-TX transformer modules, specifically designed for mid-span PoE applications.

The use of products H1180, H1183 and H1197 immediately upgrades an existing Ethernet connection to a power over Ethernet compliant solution, allowing a remote device to receive power and data over the same unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable.

These new mid-span components eliminate time, cost and effort required to install a separate mains power line to feed remote equipment.

The H1180, H1183 and H1197 are placed in parallel (inline) with the existing UTP Ethernet cabling architecture.

Their high input impedance makes each transformer appear transparent to the existing Ethernet system, instantly upgrading the connection.

This upgrade thus reduces cost and time-to-market for establishing a PoE-enabled system.

The components can deliver 15W of power to a remote device located 100m away, making them ideally suitable for remote power-feeding applications such as security camera equipment, wireless networking systems, remote sensors and transducers, and VoIP phones.

The modules deliver a minimum of 1500V RMS isolation and 350mA capability and can operate over a temperature range from to 70C.

All three are compatible with pick-and-place manufacturing processes and auto MDIX applications.

The new PoE magnetics series is available in tubes and tape-and-reel packaging and lead-time is four to six weeks.
