Connector modules take magnetics onboard
The StarJack series of integrated connector modules are designed for cost-conscious consumer products such as ADSL and cable modems, set-top boxes and video-on-demand equipment.
The StarJack series of integrated connector modules (ICMs) are designed for cost-conscious consumer products such as ADSL and cable modems, set-top boxes and video-on-demand equipment The space-saving modules combine necessary magnetics with the RJ45 connector while maintaining price parity with the alternative discrete component solution on a PCB

New choke eliminates common mode noise
Pulse's ChipChoke series for USB2.0 standard applications are said to eliminate common mode noise in high-speed networks.
Transformer boosts reliability and performance
Pulse, a Technitrol Company, has introduced the C2139NL RF balun transformer for radio frequency (RF) applications ranging from 5 to 1000 megahertz (MHz) bandwidth.
The StarJack series is IEEE802.3 compliant and offers AutoMDIX compatibility with four parts designed for 10Base-T applications and eight parts for 10/100Base-TX applications.
The new RJ45 ICMs include a magnetic component similar to Pulse's targeted, high-volume, consumer discrete Starmagnetic component H1260.
It also has an optional resistor capacitor noise cancellation circuit with the added benefit of alternative shield configurations for improving system compliance to worldwide EMC standards.
The components are offered in single-port (1by1), tab-down configuration with or without LEDs.
StarJack ICMs are suitable for Cat 5 and 6 Fast Ethernet or untwisted pair (UTP) cable.
The internal magnetics are 100% electrically tested for hi-pot and functionality delivering a minimum of 1500V RMS (typically 2000V RMS) isolation and can operate over a temperature range from 0 to 70C.
All parts are compatible with pick-and-place manufacturing processes and suitable for use within AutoMDIX-compliant integrated silicon devices.
As with all PulseJack models, the StarJack ICMs feature Pulse's patented InterLock base construction that ensures the quality, consistency, and connection integrity of the encapsulated coils.
This method consists of an internal plastic carrier that holds the coil firmly in place and provides precisely engineered "lead-channels" to lock together the lead wires and the lead frame pins.
All of the InterLock base interconnections are then simultaneously solder-dipped, providing for both efficiency and uniformity for maximum common-mode rejection and crosstalk.
The new StarJack ICM series are available in tubes.
Lead-time is four to six weeks.
