ExpressLane switch in line for innovation award
PLX Technology's ExpressLane PEX 8548 PCIe switch has been selected by EDN magazine as a finalist for this year's 2006 EDN Innovation Awards.
PLX Technology has announced that its ExpressLane PEX 8548 PCIe switch has been selected by EDN magazine from a field of hundreds as a finalist for this year's 2006 EDN Innovation Awards that honour outstanding engineering professionals and products.
The recently introduced PEX 8548 is built around a new architecture that drops the switch's latency down to 110ns and reduces power consumption to 4.9W.
The PEX 8548 was selected in EDN's Innovation Awards Digital ICs and Programmable Logic category based on the switch's impressive configurability, highlighted in the magazines favorable editorial coverage.
The switch also was named one of EDN's "Hot 100" products for 2006.
The PEX 8548 is a 48-lane, 9-port switch and is based on PLX's third-generation PCIe switching architecture, developed to improve data throughput in a wide range of applications.
High-performance Cut-thru architecture, true peer-to-peer support, highly configurable ports, and Hot-Plug controllers are among the device's benefits.
"We're honoured to have PLX and the PEX 8548 recognised for innovation by such a respected industry publication as EDN", says Akber Kazmi, product marketing director for PCIe switches at PLX.
"Being named a finalist for this award reflects PLX's commitment to and market leadership in PCI Express technology".
