USB 2.0 controller features in the Yoggie Pico product series, the world's first dedicated and robust security computers housed in small USB sticks.

The PLX NET2272 High-Speed USB 2.0 controller has been used as the interconnect solution in the new Yoggie Pico product series, the world's first dedicated and robust security computers housed in small USB sticks.

Yoggie selected the NET2272 based on the controller's high-performance, sustained data transfer speeds of up to 40Mbyte/s, very low power requirements (8.1uW standby), and small packaging (6 x 6mm), according to Nir Zamir, Vice President of Marketing at Yoggie.

"In developing the Pico, we envisioned a portable device with a groundbreaking set of security applications, yet also small and easy to carry", says Zamir.

"Selecting the NET2272 for the Pico was straightforward, both because of PLX's prominent reputation in interconnect technology and how well the controller addressed the high standards we set for the device's USB performance".

"The NET2272 is a 16bit USB 2.0 peripheral controller with a high-performance local-bus device controller capable of up to 30 independent data streams, bursting DMA up to 480Mbit/s, and power-management technology", explains Jimmy Chou, PLX Senior Marketing Manager for USB products.

"This blend of speed, flexibility and low power make it ideal for either battery- or bus-powered applications, such as the Pico".

PLX's USB controllers offer superior performance, strict compliance to industry standards, and dramatic power savings.

These controllers are widely used in printers, portable media players, GPS systems, TV tuners, PCs, notebooks, WLAN devices, mobile phones, digital cameras, and camcorders.

The Yoggie Pico features a powerful 520MHz Marvell XScale processor with 13 security applications - all on a durable USB stick - to provide laptops and desktops with the same level of security as within a corporate network.

The Pico connects to a computer via the PLX NET2272-enabled USB interface, and allows the use of a firewall of any wired or wireless network.
