New insulation displacement XLR connectors from Pomona Electronics eliminate stripping and soldering conductors.

New insulation displacement XLR connectors from Pomona Electronics eliminate stripping and soldering conductors.

Like other rugged Pomona XLRs, they feature a patented clamping mechanism that will withstand up to 445N of pull without disconnecting the cable - more than twice the pull rating of other leading brands of XLR connectors.

With Pomona's insulation displacement technology, each conductor of the wire is placed between two blades in the connector, so as the connector is screwed together, the blades pierce the insulation, making contact with the conductor.

"Pomona's new insulation displacement XLRs provide fast, easy connections without sacrificing reliability or signal quality", said Pomona Marketing Manager Dwight Hyland.

"These new XLRs dramatically reduce audio support costs with fast installation".

IDC/XLR connectors are part of Pomona's comprehensive line of premium-grade connectors and components for all broadcast segments, including high-def and digital video, audio and home entertainment.

The connectors are available from most general electronics and broadcast specialty distributors in four configurations: models 7273 (male, silver contacts, nickel shell, thermoplastic back shell), 7274 (female, silver contacts, nickel shell, thermoplastic back shell), 7275 (male, silver contacts, black shell, thermoplastic boot) and 7276 (female, silver contacts, black shell, thermoplastic boot).
