A cost-effective 5W linear adapter provides high efficiency in a small package size, making it ideal for applications such as MPEG players, PDAs and digital cameras.

Phihong has developed a cost-effective 5W linear adapter that provides high efficiency in a small package size, making it ideal for applications such as MPEG players, PDAs and digital cameras "The adapter is CEC and Energy Star compliant", said Keith Hopwood, Vice President of Marketing for Phihong USA

"Housed in a small footprint and providing 5W of power, it is a low-cost solution for many personal electronics OEMs".

Measuring just 66 x 39 x 27mm and weighing 85g, the adapter features double insulation and Class B EMC.

The adapter is equipped with an auto restart for short circuit protection, and the output can be shorted permanently without damage.

It also features a DC output connector of a mini USB.

The 5W adapter features a no-load power consumption of less than 0.3W at 230V AC, and a low leakage current of 20mA.

AC input voltage is 100 to 240V AC with a maximum AC input current of 0.3A at 90V AC.

DC output voltage is 5.15V and the device has maximum over-voltage protection of 6.7V DC (+/-0.5).

The PSAA05A adapter is approved and listed by cUL/UL, TUV, CE, SAA and C-Tick for 60950-1 safety approvals.

Pricing for the PSAA05A adapter starts at $4.25 in quantities of 1000.
