A new software package speeds the selection of PCB connectors from the Combicon range.

Despite the thousands of options available in Phoenix Contact's huge Combicon range of PCB connectors, users can locate the best connector solution for their application easily and in seconds, using the new Combicon Select software package Available free-of-charge on CD-ROM suitable for use with any modern PC running Windows, this easy-to-use package not only guides users through a rapid product selection process, but also provides them with full technical data, and even CAD drawings, for the products which they finally select

An interactive version of the package, which requires no downloading or installation, can also be accessed at the Phoenix Contact website.

To work with Combicon Select, users simply enter a number of parameters based on the knowledge they have of their own application.

These include, for example, pin pitch, number of poles, voltage, connection system and current rating.

Partial entries, where not all of the parameters are specified, are acceptable.

The software then suggests products matching those parameters, and allows the user to display and review the corresponding data sheets, which include comprehensive technical information, accompanied by photographs and dimension drawings.

Options are also provided at this stage to display, at the click of a mouse button, compatible accessories, such as labels, and, where appropriate, mating headers and plugs.

After users of the package have made their product selection, they have the option of exporting 2D and 3D drawings to a design package.

The drawings are available in a wide range of formats, including DXF, IGES, STEP and VRML.

The data sheets may also be exported in PDF format, as an aid to producing documentation.
