Phoenix Contact's new quick-release connectors for CAN systems are fast and easy to wire, and are suitable for three-wire CAN applications.

With convenient screw-clamp connections and an integrated switchable termination resistor, Phoenix Contact's new quick-release connectors for CAN systems are fast and easy to wire, and are suitable for three-wire CAN applications.

They complement the existing Subcon-Plus connectors that can be used for CAN systems in any wiring configuration.

The new Subcon-Plus-CAN connectors can be used at data transmission rates up to 1Mbit/s and, in addition to CAN applications, are also suitable for use with Safety Bus P.

They feature a lightweight screened housing, which ensures excellent EMC performance, even in high-speed applications.

The design of the housing also permits the user to reverse the orientation of the internal junction box so that cables can enter the connector from either the left or the right.

The use of screw terminals in these versatile connectors means that they can be wired using only an ordinary screwdriver - no crimping or soldering is needed.

Additional versatility is provided by the switching arrangements for the termination resistor.

When the resistor is switched into circuit, the connector is automatically isolated from the downstream section of the network.

This eliminates the problems associated with multiple terminations by ensuring that the network is terminated only at the beginning and the end.

It also makes it easy to split the bus into segments, which is an important aid during fault-finding and commissioning.

Phoenix Contact's new Subcon-Plus-CAN connectors can accommodate cables up to 10mm in diameter, with flexible conductors between 0.14 and 1.0mm2, or solid conductors between 0.14 and 1.5 mm2.

The units have an operating temperature range of -20 to +75C, allowing their use in even the most demanding environments.
