Terminal blocks handle the hazards
Providing connection facilities for PCBs designed to be used in hazardous areas is straightforward with Phoenix Contact's new range of Combicon Ex-approved printed circuit terminal blocks.
In addition to addressing everyday requirements, products in the Combicon family are also available to meet special needs.
For example, Combicon HC high-current wire-to-board connectors occupy no more space than standard 12A connectors, but have a continuous rating of 16A, making them ideally suited for use in power supplies, motor controllers and other power applications.
Where lower currents are involved, but high connection density is essential, the range offers Micro Combicon connectors, with a pitch of just 2.5mm, and multitier terminal blocks which provide up to four terminals with a width of just 5.08mm.
These terminal blocks, like many others in the range, use Phoenix Contact's spring-cage termination technology, which ensures reliable connections while cutting wiring time by up to 50%.
Also included in the Combicon range of interconnection products for printed circuit boards are Ex terminal blocks for use in hazardous areas, and a comprehensive family of accessories, such as marking systems, test plugs, bridges, polarising devices and even screwdrivers.
Full details of Combicon products are provided in an A4-format catalogue which contains almost 400 pages of data, illustrations, and application information.
The catalogue features page-edge indexing to facilitate rapid product location, together with a comprehensive conventional index.
As a further aid to finding the best and most economical termination solution from the Combicon range, Phoenix Contact offers Combicon Select software.
Suitable for use with any modern PC running Windows, this easy-to-use package not only guides users through a rapid product selection process, but also provides them with full technical data, and even CAD drawings, for the products which they finally select.
