Convertors are cooler at point of load
Powerline has a new range of open-frame DC/DC convertors, the ETA OC Series, designed for applications where point-of-load regulation is required.
Powerline has a new range of open-frame DC/DC convertors, the ETA OC Series, designed for applications where point-of-load regulation is required Both the OC2 (3-10W) and OC3 (4.5-10W) have a programmable wide-range output with the output voltage being set using an external resistor
The OC2 has an output range of 1.5-5V DC from an input of 4.5-14V DC, whereas the OC3 has an output range of 1.5-3.3V DC from an input of 4.5-5V DC.
Output current ratings are 2A for the OC2 and 3A for the OC3.
The noninsulated units use a chopper regulation technique which results in high efficiencies (75-92%) regardless of input voltage.
They are ideally suited to use as replacements for three-terminal series bus regulators in situations where overheating problems arise.
The convertors measure only 32 x 21.4 x 9mm, and carry a 3-year warranty.
