Configurable power rises to new levels
Lambda's industry-leading Alpha power supply is now available across the full range of power levels from 400 to 1500W.
With the addition of two new high-power models to its lineup of configurable switch-mode PSUs, Powerline is now able to offer Lambda's industry-leading Alpha power supply across the full range of power levels from 400 to 1500W.
Scott Lacey, Powerline's Business Development Manager, comments: "Over the past few years designers working on applications such as image processing, disk arrays, high-end IT, telecomms, process control and industrial computing have been coming back to us time and again looking for higher and higher levels of configurable power.
The Alpha 1000 and 1500W units have been introduced specifically to meet this growing demand".
Through careful redesign, the output of Alpha's forward convertors have been increased to 500W.
This gives the seven-slot Alpha 1000 a 25% higher power density than the 800W model, while retaining the same industry-standard case size.
The slightly wider eight-slot Alpha 1500 delivers 10% more output than its nearest competing equivalent.
The Alpha 1000 and 1500 have an input operating voltage range covering 90 to 265V AC.
Both units have an input frequency of 47 to 63Hz and a startup time of less than 0.5s.
Output adjustment is via a multiturn potentiometer with an accuracy to within 1%.
Load regulation (0 to 100% loading) is better than 0.5% with remote sensing and better than 2% without remote sensing.
Overcurrent and overvoltage protection are fitted as standard.
Thermal protection is fitted as standard and input protection is in accordance with EN61000-4-2/4/5 level 3.
Cooling is provided by two 60mm fans.
The new supplies have built-in power factor and harmonic correction in accordance with EN61000-3-2.
A wide range of options is available including curve B EMC filters, remote sense, power good, AC fail, paralleling and power supply inhibit.
The MF primary option provides a 5V, 50mA auxiliary output, power fail indication and converter inhibit.
The PA secondary option provides paralleling and module good while the IN secondary option gives module inhibit and module good.
Alpha's inherently flexible modular design means that Powerline is able to provide a carefully matched solution that is easy to specify, easy to fit, easy to buy.
