PWM patent hearing set for January 2006
Power Integrations' case against System General Corp at the US International Trade Commission is scheduled to begin on 18th January 2006.
Power Integrations has revealed that the hearing in its case against System General Corp at the US International Trade Commission (ITC) is scheduled to begin on 18th January 2006 Based on the hearing, the judge will make an initial determination of whether System General is infringing Power Integrations' patents

Power Integrations has released a new version of its popular design software for switched-mode power supplies.
If the judge finds in favour of Power Integrations and the ITC upholds the decision, products containing the infringing parts would be excluded from the US market.
The parts in dispute are System General's pulsewidth modulation (PWM) integrated circuits and products that incorporate them, principally LCD monitors.
Power Integrations filed a complaint with the ITC in May 2005, seeking an investigation into whether System General's parts infringe Power Integrations' US Patents 6,212,079, 6,351,398, 6,366,481 and 6,538,908.
In June, the commission decided to institute an investigation; the evidentiary hearing is a key milestone in the case.
