Free Profinet workshop at TEAM

A The Profibus Group product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Sep 24, 2002

A free workshop at the TEAM Show will cover the basics of Profinet, and participants will receive clear guidelines for its implementation plus an overview of the future development of Profinet.

Today, two key factors are influencing new automation concepts: the emergence of distributed and component-oriented control structures and the convergence of industrial automation and the IT of high-level management.

The new Profinet concept takes this trend into account by offering a simple and cost-effective solution for both aspects of new automation structures with one single technology.

It enables open engineering in distributed automation systems and meets the demand from end-users for a transparent concept for the vertical integration of Profibus systems into the broader IT infrastructure.

It integrates Profibus with de facto IT standards such as COM, DCOM, Ethernet, TCP/I and OPC-DX to offer a complete, seamless hierarchy of automation for modern manufacturing operations.

But who's using Profinet and what benefits are they getting? What products are available? How can I get started with Profinet? The answers to these and many more questions will be revealed at the Profinet application and implementation workshop at the Total Engineering And Manufacturing show at the UK NEC on 14th November.

The workshop - which is free of charge to preregistered delegates - will cover the basics of Profinet and participants will receive clear guidelines for its implementation plus an overview of the future development of Profinet.

There will be a demonstration of the interconnection editor, which enables the integration of different devices of any manufacturer into the automation system.

Registration for the workshop is on-line at www.teamshow.co.uk.
