Fibre depolariser operates from 1300 to
1610nm
ProtoDel has launched a broadband inline fibre depolariser to operate over the entire telecomms transmission network window (1300-1610nm).
ProtoDel has launched a broadband inline fibre depolariser to operate over the entire telecomms transmission network window (1300-1610nm) The all-fibre, passive depolariser features a fused-fibre construction with no free space optics, moving parts or bending in the light path

Low losses for all-fibre attenuator and shutter
Two new low-cost high-performance all-fibre components - the Mark II variable optical attenuator and shutter - will be unveiled by ProtoDel at ECOC 2001.
This depolariser is specifically designed for sources used in Raman pump lasers.
As the nonlinear effect that produces the Raman amplification in the fibre is highly dependent on the polarisation state, it is critical to depolarise the pump source to optimise amplification.
The fibre depolarisers are designed to provide a truly unpolarisered light with degree of polarisation (DOP) less than 1%.
The devices feature a low insertion loss and can handle high power laser input.
The standard device has a typical DOP better than 0.02dB and insertion loss of less than 1.0dB.
This product can be used to achieve 99.9% depolarisation for the input sources with linewidth above 0.06nm.
The standard devices are insensitive to input polarisation changes and environmental effects.
The device can be integrated directly as a part of the optical source.
The devices are light, ruggedised and operate over a wide wavelength range and are available in a compact box or customised packaging.
Enhanced specification devices are also available upon request.
Specific customer requirements of DOP, input/output configuration, operating wavelength and source bandwidth can also be designed and fabricated.
The OEM version is also available at competitive prices.
These fibre depolarisers will join the existing ProtoDel product line of depolarisers for Fabry Perot (FP) and broadband sources at 1550, 1480, 1330, 980 and 800nm wavelength windows.
