Low losses for all-fibre attenuator and shutter
Two new low-cost high-performance all-fibre components - the Mark II variable optical attenuator and shutter - will be unveiled by ProtoDel at ECOC 2001.
The technology coupled with the company's in-depth expertise provides for a component portfolio giving full vector control of the optical signal.
Commenting on the new product range, Ken Edmonds, Sales and Marketing Director, said, "Our customers are under heavy pressure to improve the performance of their systems and to cut costs.
The technology used by ProtoDel provides them with an opportunity to do so".
Demand for ProtoDel's all-fibre components has been such that company turnover has quadrupled in the last year and an additional 20,000m2 manufacturing facility, to be manned by an additional 100 production staff, is currently being sought in the UK by Founder and CEO, Dr Ian Giles.
The company has also opened a new US HQ in 'Telecom Corridor', Richardson, Texas - an area recognised as one of the key centres in the USA for the telecommunications industry.
Commercial Director, Janet Wright, is spearheading the campaign to recruit staff to cover Canada and the US territories of Richardson, Silicon Valley, Research Triangle Park and the East Coast Region.
ProtoDel is also looking for key distributors in the Asia Pacific region to act as business partners.
Concluding, Dr Ian Giles, said, "The future for ProtoDel looks bright.
Not only have we secured major VC funding for our new manufacturing facility, several competitive awards from the UK's Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) but continued demand for our high quality low cost products means that we are confident of sustaining a 100% pa growth for the foreseeable future".
