Software configuration management in Birmingham
Perforce Software will feature Perforce, the fast software configuration management system at the annual Embedded Systems Show in Birmingham).
Perforce Software will feature Perforce, the fast software configuration management system at this year's annual Embedded Systems Show in Birmingham (11th and 12th October 2006, Stand 731).
From wireless and PDA devices to VoIP, IPTV and automotive networking systems, Perforce helps developers track and manage the development of these leading-edge embedded products.
Perforce SCM versions and manages the development of all digital assets including source code, binary files, documents, and graphics.
Traditionally used for software development, Perforce's unique architecture enables embedded companies to use the SCM environment to manage the concurrent development of software and hardware.
"Embedded systems and EDA companies are using Perforce to achieve the greater level of awareness that comes from being able to track every step of a product's development from inception to final production", explained Dave Robertson, director of European operations of Perforce Software.
In the Perforce environment, software developers can monitor changes to hardware design, and vice versa.
Software developers can work with confidence that their software will fully integrate with both present and upcoming hardware, and hardware designers can design new features compatible with future software revisions.
"The result of this flexible development process has been a shortening of development cycles and therefore a quicker time to market".
"Customers have found that the final products are better integrated, more robust and provide optimised functionality", said Robertson.
National Instruments, Nvidia, Palm, Qualcomm, Silicon Graphics, Sun Microsystems, Symbian, Symantec, TiVo, ReShape and Matrix Semiconductor are among the 4000 organisations totalling more than 200,000 developers worldwide who use the Perforce SCM System.
