Laser autofocus system raises throughput
Prior Scientific has developed a new laser autofocus system.
Prior Scientific has developed a new laser autofocus system.
The system combines the latest in intelligent microprocessor control and advanced optics to provide one of the fastest and most reliable laser autofocus systems available on the market.
The system uses precision optics which will easily adjust to fit most modern microscopes and optical systems with infinity corrected optics.
The design of the unit eliminates the need to manually adjust the focus, as this is achieved automatically by a laser tracking system.
This provides dramatic improvements in throughput and a reduction in operator fatigue.
The intelligent digital control will automatically sense when the sample has moved out of the field of view and stops the focus drive, while LEDs give a clear representation of the focus status.
Furthermore, the flexible unit is supplied with limit switch inputs, a microstepping drive for the focus motor and an RS232 port, which facilitates a fully functioning z motor control.
The system is extremely versatile, as the unit can still maintain the capability of manual focus with the aid of a digital pot.
The digital pot allows for easy adjustment of the focus in a manual mode while the keypad also allows the user to turn the laser focus on and off, with buttons for home, speed, focus up and focus down.
For additional flexibility, the unit has the advantage of being supplied with either a spot or line laser.
The spot laser is ideal for smooth samples with very few features, while the line laser is best suited for applications such as patterned wafers.

Software simplifies image acquisition
Acquiring images onto a computer from an analogue source such as a CCD camera has always been a fairly complicated process. -
Module keeps scopes in focus
The LF100 laser focus module constantly monitors the focal position of the microscope and makes adjustments through a motorised focus to maintain a perfect image of the specimen. -
Zoom in for inspection
The Prior zoom optical system consists of literally thousands of individual parts that can be combined to produce exactly the magnification, field of view, depth of focus and resolution desired. -
Gauge runs the rule over magnified images
Prior Scientific has produced a flexible ruler which can be used to quickly and easily assess the total magnification of any system displaying an image on a screen. -
Automation for demanding microscopy applications
The all-new ProScan series of automated microscopy systems is modular in design and features a wide range of stages for use with most modern microscopes.
