Power semiconductor materials focus of trade show
At the 37th International Symposium on Microelectronics November 16-18, 2004, Indiumıs exhibit will focus on Power Semiconductor Materials, such as Solder Wire, Solder Preforms and Solder Paste.
PSL worked closely with HHB during the product's development phase to ensure the manufacturability of a design that includes 23 different PCBs and 30 cables within an enclosure measuring just 332 x 106 x 224mm.
"With so much complex circuitry in a relatively confined space, we had to be especially careful to ensure that there was no interference between signal paths and that the unit was thermally stable", commented Printed Systems' Managing Director, Stuart Gorman.
"In addition, the unit had to be manufactured to the highest standards in order to achieve the robustness and reliability demanded by users in this market".
As well as producing the PCBs and cable assemblies, Printed Systems also carries out all the mechanical assembly work and testing of the unit at each stage of production.
Initially, HHB personnel paid regular visits to Printed Systems' premises to test the units themselves, but they are now so confident of the company's ability to achieve zero defects that the products are shipped directly to stock at HHB.
As HHB's Managing Director, Ian Jones, commented: "For Portadrive we needed a manufacturing partner that would be flexible, efficient and capable of delivering the highest levels of quality, helping us to minimise time to market for this important new product".
"Printed Systems succeeded in every respect, and we could not have hoped for a more effective partner".
One early Portadrive enthusiast was Oscar-winning sound mixer, Hammond Peek, who has been using the unit on location in New Zealand for Peter Jackson's remake of the 1933 classic, King Kong.
