Board powers and cools embedded systems
A novel PC/104-Plus power interface board converts DC voltages for output to the PC/104 (ISA) and PC/104-Plus (PCI) buses, while also providing forced air circulation to embedded systems.
A novel PC/104-Plus power interface board from Parvus Corp is a dual-function embedded PC card designed to convert DC voltages for output to the PC/104 (ISA) and PC/104-Plus (PCI) buses, while also providing forced air circulation to embedded systems The board is priced at $187 each in orders of 100+ units

Fingerprint board isn't fooled by phoney fingers
Parvus Corp is developing modular fingerprint identification hardware for embedded computer applications in co-operation with Fujitsu Microelectronics America (FMA).
Integrating an onboard 3.3V DC regulator, the PC/104-Plus power interface generates +3.3Vs (for up to 6A of current) from +5V DC and routes power through the PC/104-Plus header for PC/104-Plus peripherals that require +3.3V DC, such as network routers, FireWire, DSP, video and other high-performance PC/104-Plus I/O cards.
The board also routes +/-5 and +/-12V DC output voltages through the PC/104 bus or from an external power source (using its onboard screw terminal blocks), as well as routes +/-12 and +5V DC for the PC/104-Plus bus.
In addition to voltage conversion, this PC/104-Plus form factor (3.550 x 3.775in) module integrates a temperature sensor and two onboard fans to monitor thermal conditions and provide air circulation for enclosed PC/104 embedded systems.
Capable of thermostatic functionality, the board's two ball-bearing fans can be turned off and on, based on changing thermal conditions, to extend fan life and conserve power when not in use.
In a sealed enclosure, the board can even reduce or eliminate the need for outside air exchange.
Air is driven in a push-pull circular cooling pattern around the module and adjacent PC/104 cards.
Parvus also offers 20, 35, 50, 75 and 90W PC/104 power supplies that can be used together with this product to supply it with +/-5 and/or +/-12V DC.
Models are available with up to four output voltages, and typically feature input/output voltage protection, multiple power connectors, battery charging circuits, onboard temperature monitoring, and intelligent shutdown.
