The SpacePC 4200 CPU is a fanless 5x86 class PC/104-Plus processor board based around the 32bit AMD Elan SC520 microcontroller.

The SpacePC 4200 CPU is a fanless 5x86 class PC/104-Plus processor board based around the 32bit AMD Elan SC520 microcontroller The product is priced at $314 each in volume orders of 100+ units

Operating at clock speeds of 133MHz with a typical power consumption of only 4.6W, the 4200 Series module integrates two 10/100Mbit/s Fast Ethernet controllers and four serial ports (two RS232, two RS232/422/485) to provide embedded systems in aerospace, industrial, medical and transportation applications with a rich network and communication feature set.

Other standard onboard peripherals include a bidirectional EPP/ECP parallel port, EIDE hard drive interface, speaker port, AT keyboard and PS/2 mouse interfaces, real-time clock, watchdog timer and two additional 16bit counter/timers.

To enhance reliability, the module does not require any active cooling, has no moving parts and comes equipped with 64Mbyte of soldered SDRAM.

Available in both standard (0 to +60C) and extended (-40 to +85C) temperature rated versions, the 4200 Series incorporates an IDE controller that supports the use of rugged solid-state disk devices, such as DiskOnModule, CompactFlash and ATA Flash drives to securely store user data in harsh environmental conditions were standard devices do not reliably operate.

This space-saving (3.55 x 3.775in) PC/104-Plus CPU module also includes drivers for both Windows and real-time operating systems such as Linux, QNX and VxWorks.

It integrates both the PC/104 (ISA) and PC/104-Plus (PCI) buses, enabling the 4200 Series to be easily stacked on top of other PC/104 addon modules (such as video accelerators, frame grabbers, and digital I/O boards).

Its BIOS is stored in a 1Mbyte EPROM, which comes preloaded with a ROM-DOS kernel to facilitate rapid implementation.

Limited quantities of the SpacePC 4200 CPU are available for free evaluation.
