Fingerprint board isn't fooled by phoney fingers
Parvus Corp is developing modular fingerprint identification hardware for embedded computer applications in co-operation with Fujitsu Microelectronics America (FMA).
Similar to Parvus' other SpacePC single board computer (SBC) modules, the 2200, 2110 and 2100 Series models operate fanless (passive cooling), have RAM soldered onboard (for ruggedness), deliver low power consumption (3-7W), and can be extended temperature rated (-40 to +85C).
All three models offer standard PC peripheral interfaces, integrated sockets for nonvolatile Flash DiskOnChip memory, and a preloaded ROM-DOS kernel to facilitate rapid implementation.
The SpacePC 2200 Series integrates an STPC 486DX 75MHz processor, SVGA video controller, 10/100 Ethernet controller, four serial ports, IDE, floppy, parallel, and keyboard ports.
The 2110 Series and SpacePC 2100 Series modules, alternatively, are based on the fastest Intel 386SX class controller (ALi M6117C 40MHz) and integrate up to four serial ports, an IDE controller, floppy, parallel, and keyboard ports.
The 2110 Series is available with an onboard Ethernet controller, 16 general-purpose DIO channels, and two CAN 2.0B ports.
For first-time users seeking rapid, out-of-the-box implementation, each of these compact (3.550 x 3.775in) CPU boards is available in a pre-assembled hardware development kit.
A limited number of free 30-day evaluation kits are available for the SpacePC 2110 CPU, as well as for Parvus' 586 and Pentium class boards.
