The IrDA protocol stack is proven in a number of applications including a low cost PDA, a primary rate ISDN traffic monitor and a handheld computer used in the educational sector.

The IrDA protocol stack has already been deployed on Intel x86, Renesas SH3 and AMD186EM platforms but has been designed to be easily ported to alternative architectures.

Written to be operating system independent, it supports three- and nine-wire protocol features with functionality that greatly exceeds the minimum "IrLite" specification.

"The cost of developing an IrDA protocol stack of this quality and with this functionality from scratch would be in the region of GBP 150,000", said Chris Briggs, Managing Director, Proven Software Solutions.

"However, we are supplying the fully developed and documented code for a fraction of this price, illustrating the huge benefits of software reuse".

The IrDA protocol stack has been thoroughly tested and is supplied by Proven Software Solutions as portable, fully documented source code, thereby drastically reducing the cost, risk and effort involved in adding such enabling functions to new products.

Furthermore, Proven Software Solutions' royalty-free business model means there are no hidden charges.
