Peter Gordge has been appointed as Business Manager for a range of services offered by the newly formed Precision Solutions business centre of MBDA UK.

Peter Gordge has been appointed as Business Manager for a range of services offered by the newly formed Precision Solutions business centre of MBDA UK Precision Solutions provides commercial organisations access to a vast array of MBDA's specialist expertise, many of which were previously only available to the military sector

Gordge's specific responsibility is for the supply of a host of environmental testing facilities, as well as electromagnetic compatibility testing and radiation effects.

Sophisticated environmental engineering test facilities include climatic testing, shock and vibration testing, structural mechanical testing, hazardous testing and acoustic testing.

Most importantly, testing can be offered in a combination of different environmental conditions to simulate a real world environment.

Techniques that have been used to harden systems to neutron, gamma ray and X-ray radiation can be used on other systems that may be exposed to naturally occurring radiation.

The EMC facility is UKAS accredited and provides a comprehensive test, design advice, prediction and analysis and computational electromagnetics service to cover a wide range of specifications.

Gordge has an excellent track record, having gained sound engineering experience in a complex manufacturing environment at Thales Optronics (Taunton) (formerly Avimo) including managing a production engineering department and leading multifunctional product development teams.

This led to a role in business development where he had responsibility for multi-million-pound contracts including strategic, technical, programme and commercial activities.

This included company representation and liaison with customers, suppliers and corporate divisions throughout North America, Europe and Asia and successful key account management of major aerospace and defence companies.

Gordge has specialised in advanced plant and process technology for beryllium and beryllium composite manufacturing used for the production high precision optics and structures for a wide range of military and civil applications.

These include structures for airborne gimbals, airborne pods and satellites, mirrors for airborne electro optics modules, thermal imagers, stabilised heads, satellites, resonating scanners and rotating scanners.
