Driver powers up Mach-Zehnder modulators
The DR-GA-40 is a high-gain high-voltage 40Gbit/s modulator driver for high-datarate LiNb03 modulators.
The DR-GA-40 is a high-gain high-voltage 40Gbit/s modulator driver for high-datarate LiNb03 modulators Modulator drivers are key component in the transmitter stage of 40Gbit/s optical communication systems, and must meet stringent requirements for wide bandwidth and high output voltage swing to drive modulators such as LiNb03 Mach-Zehnder devices

New from Photline Technologies is a complete family of 1064nm lithium niobate modulators.
The Photline DR-GA-40 driver is based on a double distributed amplifier architecture and manufactured using GaAs pHEMT technology.
It is compatible with a 500mV output multiplexer and exhibits an unbeaten combination of performance, with 26dB flat gain from 50kHz to 50GHz and 8V peak-peak output voltage at 40Gbit/s.
The DR-GA-40 will help transmission design teams to develop high-performance 40Gbit/s optical systems in offering them a cutting edge modulation key component.
The device complements Pholine's range of 40Gbit/s Mach-Zehnder modulators, and will be on show at ECOC 2003 in Rimini.
