Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 23, 2004

By 1st April, more than 13,000 engineers, developers and managers from 45 countries had converged on Electronica USA and the Embedded Systems Conference in the Moscone Centre in San Francisco.

The 29th March 2004 was the starting point for the new business event for the electronics industry in North America.

And by 1st April, more than 13,000 engineers, developers and managers from 45 countries had converged on Electronica USA and the Embedded Systems Conference in the Moscone Centre in San Francisco.

430 exhibitors presented a broad spectrum of electronic components and materials new to the USA, from EDA, embedded systems and software to system components.

At the same time, more than 275 speakers from the industry provided information in the form of seminars at the conferences on embedded systems, communications design and power electronics, as well as at the Emerging Technologies Forum, giving talks on the newest technologies and trends on the market.

Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director of MesseMunich, was highly satisfied with the business event premiere: "Electronica USA with the Embedded Systems Conference celebrated a hugely successful start, with very positive feedback from the various branches.

Expertise gathered from the key world trade fair Electronica and the international global electronics network enabled the creation of an entirely new event concept for the USA.

For the first time, the entire electronics spectrum was presented at one event, with the strategic partnership with CMP making a major contribution to the success of this first event".

More than 8000 products were showcased at Electronica USA with the Embedded Systems Conference, including those of key players in the electronics industry such as Motorola, STMicroelectronics, Rittal, Harting, Infineon, Vishay, Phoenix Contact and Analog Devices, as well as embedded technology and software experts such as Wind River, Microsoft, LynuxWorld and Green Hills.

Well-known companies and prominent speakers were also present at the Embedded Systems Conference, the Communications Design Conference, the Power Electronics Conference and the Emerging Technologies Forum, including: Alexander Lidow, CEO of International Rectifier; Jerry Fiddler, founder and board member of Wind River; and Robert Lucky, former Vice President of Telcordia Technologies.

Event highlights and interviews with the speakers in text, audio and video format are available as a follow-up to the event on the official website.

The EEQuorum, organised by CMP, also celebrated its debut.

The Internet-based networking tool, with free user profile registration for exhibitors and visitors, provided effective business contact between potential partners at the fair.

The concept received a great deal of feedback and will be used again in future.

Dates for next year's event have already been set.

Between 7th and 10th March 2005, San Francisco will once again be the central meeting point for the North American electronics industry.

It is already confirmed that the majority of this year's exhibitors will be on board again: in accordance with the usual USA "re-signing", they have registered once again for the most comprehensive electronics business event in North America.
