Practically every leading electronics company will be represented at Electronica, many showing new products and applications.

In addition, the show will focus on the growth markets of automotive and wireless.

Electronica looks set to take place at a time when the market is showing positive development.

Market researchers estimate development in the global semiconductor market for 2008 at between 6% and 12%.

German Central Association of Electrical Engineering and the Electronics Industry (ZVEI) is expecting growth of approximately 7%.

Electronica's message to visitors this time is: "Get the whole picture".

Across no fewer than 14 halls, visitors will see the very latest in semiconductors, embedded systems, displays, sensors, and test and measurement technology as well as electromechanical/system peripherals and on through to electronic design.

The focus areas of automotive, wireless, embedded and micro/nanosystems will be given independent exhibition areas with presentation programmes while the automotive and wireless sectors will each feature two-day conferences.

After a successful debut at Electronica 2006, the automotive conference 2008 will take place on 10th and 11th November 2008 at the International Congress Centre Munich (ICM) with an influential group of speakers representing leading international automobile manufacturers, supplier companies, and system suppliers.

The conference will be held in English.

On 12th and 13th November 2008 leaders in wireless technology will meet at the ICM.

The "Wireless congress: systems and applications" is taking place for the fifth time and will address developers, system designers and technology decision makers.

Around 50 presentations will highlight all technical aspects of present and future wireless technologies especially those for industrial use across many applications.

Both executive round tables at Electronica 2008 will offer the opportunity to hear top executives from leading global companies speaking in podium discussions.

They will be on the topics of semiconductors and climate protection and aspects for sector displays and present technological and economic future scenarios.

At Electronica 2006, the participants included the Chairmen of the Boards of Infineon Technologies, Freescale Semiconductors and Renesas Technology.

In 2006, Electronica continued its trend to be more international.

60% (2004: 58%) of the exhibitors and 45% (2004: 44%) of the visitors came from outside of Germany and represented 124 countries.

In total, 2961 exhibitors and 77,748 visitors took part in the trade fair.
