DIN-rail supplies have voltage drops covered
The latest addition to the Dimension range of DIN-rail power supplies from Puls offers an answer to the age-old problem of the voltage drop inherent in longer cables.
Supplies cut the cost of DIN-rail power
The C-Dimension Series of DIN-rail power supplies are considerably lower in cost than standard units, but with only minor reductions in functionality.
Improvements in efficiency means that it has been possible to reduce the size to half that of their predecessors and competitors, freeing more space on the DIN rail or allowing the use of smaller cabinets.
The efficiency of the QT20.241 (three-phase, 480W, 24V) is unparalleled at 95%, making the new Dimension range one of the most energy efficient power supplies in the world.
By offering high efficiency levels, the internal temperature of the power supply is lower leading to longer lifetimes of the components, such as capacitors.
The capacitors feature a specified lifetime of 50kh, tested at 40C ambient temperature.
The Dimension range has another major feature as it offers an ultrawide input range.
Not only is it fully specified for start up and operating between -25 and +60C (derating higher than 60C), but is has been fully tested starting as low -40C.
Dimension also offers an ultrawide input voltage range of 100-240V (60-300V for up to 0.2s), making them ideal for worldwide use, and without need for adjustment.
DC inputs are also allowed on both the single and three phase units with the single phase offering 88-375V DC input range.
They also hold a full worldwide approvals package and offer a three year warranty.
Puls has developed a feature called BonusPower enabling the Dimension units to have a 150% peak power capacity for 4s, which is fully stabilised with no change to the output voltage.
To give an example, the QS10.241 (24V single-phase 240W) is therefore able to offer a maximum peak load of 360W.
This extra power is repeatable provided the average load does not exceed 240W.
Other features include: quick connect spring clamp terminals ideal for shock and vibration environments; extra low inrush current; DC-OK relay contact; active filtering of input transients; and active PFC.
Products currently offered in the Dimension product range comprise: 80W single-phase (24-28V) 32mm; 120W single-phase (24-28V) 40mm; 240W single-phase (24-28, 12-15 and 48-56V) 60mm; 480W three-phase (24-28, 36-42 and 48V-56V) 65mm; and a decoupling module for redundancy.
