Clock source maintains precision
A novel programmable VCO clock source generates TTL and ECL clock signals from 1.2MHz to 1.35GHz with high resolution and precision crystal-like short-term stability.
Available now from Pulse Research Lab (PRL), the PRL 174ANT-1350 NECL/TTL is a novel programmable VCO clock source This self-contained clock source pod is manually programmable and generates TTL and ECL clock signals from 1.2MHz to 1.35GHz with high resolution (100ppm) and precision crystal-like short-term stability

Receivers and line drivers have universal appeal
The innovative PRL 425 Series universal differential receivers and line drivers can receive any differential signal with a minimum amplitude of 100mV and a common-mode range between -2.4 and +4V.
Frequency divider is flexible trigger
The PRL-260ANT is a novel programmable TTL/NECL frequency divider.
The internal VCO clock frequency f is continuously variable from 600MHz to 1.35GHz from the front panel.
In "fine adjust" mode the full operating range is first divided into ranges via a 16-position rotary switch.
Within each range, the 10-turn pot provides high-resolution (100ppm) adjustment.
In "coarse adjust" mode the 10-turn pot controls the entire 600MHz to 1.35GHz range.
Typical stability is 100ppm over 30 minutes or 250ppm over 12 hours (with a +/-2C temperature variation).
An internal 9bit divider (f/1 to f/512) divides the VCO frequency down to as low as 1.2MHz.
The module also features easy integration and connection to most types of devices and instruments via the TTL and NECL line-driver outputs.
Applications for the PRL-174ANT-1350 include precision clocks for high speed digital systems, low jitter clock source for testing A/Ds, Sonet clock generator and a basic lab tool for working with high speed NECL and TTL/CMOS circuits.
For many lab requirements, the PRL-174ANT-1350 is an affordable and timely alternative to a large, expensive frequency synthesiser or custom crystal clock source (which can take up to 12 weeks for delivery).
The PRL-174ANT-1350 module is available to ship within two weeks, with an MSRP of less than $1500.
The unit includes an AC adapter for ready-to-use convenience on the bench or in a system.
The 33 x 74 x 206mm extruded aluminium housing is suitable for mounting with the optional brackets, and two units can share a single AC adapter using PRL voltage distribution modules.
