POL convertors take digital management onboard
Three new digital point-of-load convertors solve common power-management problems via simple pin strapping and the use of only one trim resistor and capacitor.
Power-One has released three new "No-Bus" point-of-load (POL) convertors: the 7A-rated ZY1207, 15A ZY1115 and 20A ZY1120.
These extremely-cost-effective digital POLs solve customers' most frequently experienced power-management problems via simple pin strapping, and the use of only one trim resistor and capacitor.
With unit prices competitive with analogue POLs, customers can typically save between $5 and $10 for a four-output IBA power system by not having to implement external controllers and other associated components.
Steve Goldman, Power-One's Chairman and CEO, commented: "We believe that No-Bus Z-1000 POLs are the most cost-effective POL conversion-and-management solutions available for low-to-medium complexity applications".
"Our Z-1000 products are great complements to our Z-7000 Series, which provide significant savings in higher-complexity applications when compared with the costs of competitors' POLs, controllers and ancillary devices".
"The Z-1000 and Z-7000 Series comprise the industry's broadest selection of currently-available digital power management solutions".
These digital No-Bus Z-1000 POLs intrinsically support: sequencing with configurable delays, tracking and cascading between multiple outputs; feedback-loop compensation parameters that can be optimised for specific applications; noise and EMI control via frequency synchronisation and programmable phase interleave; output current and temperature measurements via monitoring pins; and current sharing of up to ten No-Bus POLs.
The horizontally-mounted ZY1207 has a 12.5 x 22.2mm SMT footprint and a low-profile 6.5mm height.
The vertically-mounted ZY1115 and ZY1120 share the same 8 x 32mm SMT footprint and a low-profile 14mm height, facilitating migration as amperage requirements change.
Other features include configurable outputs from 0.5 to 5.5V, wide-range 3 to 13.2V input, prebiased output startup capabilities, sink and source current for active bus termination, and an extensive set of protections, including output overvoltage.
Pricing for 1000 pieces of the ZY1207, ZY1115 and ZY1120 is $6.60, $9.90 and $12.10, respectively.
Samples are usually available from stock.
Production quantities are typically available in four to six weeks.
