Power-One has introduced the 40A QME48 Series of quarter-brick DC/DC convertors.

Power-One has introduced the 40A QME48 Series of quarter-brick DC/DC convertors.

Composed of models offering a full range of outputs from 1.0 to 3.3V DC, the QME48 Series provides industry-leading thermal performance when compared with other 40A quarter-bricks, and most 40A half-bricks.

A 13.9 million hour MTBF, extremely competitive pricing, and immediate RoHS-compliant product availability are additional reasons why QME48 products are ideal power sources for communications and server applications.

At temperatures up to 70C, the QME48 Series delivers 37A, with only 1.5m/s of linear airflow.

This extremely low thermal derating is achieved through the use of advanced patent-pending circuit, packaging, and processing technologies.

As heatsinks are not required, the QME48 Series maintains its 10.8mm profile, minimising airflow shadowing to enhance cooling for downstream devices.

Additional features include: 36 to 75V DC input range, 2000V input-to-output isolation, basic insulation, onboard input differential LC-filter, no minimum-load requirement, remote on/off, 100V input transient withstand for 100ms, start up into pre-biased loads, remote sense, and output voltage trim.

Protection features include: output overcurrent, input undervoltage lockout, and input overvoltage shutdown.

Regulatory agency approvals include UL60950 and its design meets Class B conducted emissions per FCC and EN55022 when used with an external filter.

Pricing for these industry-standard footprint (36.83 x 58.42mm) products is $48 each in quantities of 1000 pieces.

Evaluation units are usually available from stock.

Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks.

Power-One products are sold to telecommunications and Internet service providers and equipment manufacturers.
