Quarter-brick convertors have wide appeal

A Power-One product story

The QMS Series of quarter-brick DC/DC convertors features an ultrawide 18-60V input range.

Power-One introduces its QMS Series of quarter-brick DC/DC convertors.

Three new single-output models provide 3.3V DC at 25A, 5V DC at 14A and 12V DC at 6.75A.

Ultrawide 18 to 60V DC input range facilitates operation from 24 and 48V, eliminating the need for multiple host-system circuit-pack designs, and reducing the number of brick part numbers in inventory, in applications such as wireless basestations.

Efficiencies exceeding 90% and advanced thermal management techniques facilitate impressive elevated-temperature performance; for example, with 24V input and 3.3V output, over 92% of full-rated power is available with only convection cooling at 70C.

Additional features include: 1500V DC input-to-output isolation, basic insulation, startup into highly-capacitive loads, and low conducted and radiated EMI.

Interface features include remote on/off, remote output voltage sensing and industry-standard output trim.

Protection includes overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature.

Regulatory approvals include UL60950-1-03/CAN/CSA-C22.2 No 60950-1, TUV EN 60950-1, and IEC 60950-1.

These cost-effective products incorporate 12.7mm heights and industry-standard 57.9 x 36.8mm footprints.

Pricing is $45 each in quantities of 1000.

Samples are usually available from stock.

Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks.

RoHS lead-free and lead-solder-exempted versions are available.
