Quadrant is now supplying in the UK a range of SMT connectors from the German company FCT that is designed for RoHS compliant, surface mount technology assembly.

Built with a shell made from steel with tin plating over nickel with copper, these new SMT connectors have heat resistant insulators manufactured from a UL94V0 material that provides a heat deflection temperature limit of 276C and an insulation resistance of 5000Mohm.

The pins are made from a copper alloy and are available in 9-, 15- and 25-way versions with height of 3.7 or 7.3mm with options of 4-4OUNC or M3.

Supplied on "tape on reel", the FCT SMT connectors are rated at 5A with a test voltage between contacts of 1200V for 1min, have an expected life of up to 500 mating cycles and are suitable for use with all pick and place equipment used with surface mount technology production.
