Quadrant, the Hertfordshire based manufacturer of coaxial and multicore cable assemblies has manufactured its millionth copper corrugated jumper cable.

Quadrant, the Hertfordshire based manufacturer of coaxial and multicore cable assemblies has manufactured its millionth copper corrugated jumper cable To mark the occasion Quadrant Managing Director, Anthony Sheridan, presented a commemorative plaque at the recent Electronica exhibition to Christian Ruth of Tomek who took receipt of this landmark product

Tomek is the Quadrant agent in Austria, one of Quadrant's largest markets, and the cable is destined to be installed in a T-Mobile network.

Designed specifically for the mobile telecommunications industry in the mid-1990s, Quadrant jumper cables use a unique connector made specifically for Quadrant by Telegartner and combine stringent IP68 specification against water ingress with inductive solder joints of the highest security.

The first customer was BT Cellnet (now O2) and since then the cables have been installed by more than 50 network operators across Europe.

Over 2000km of this cable have now been supplied to over 200 customers in 40 countries including all EU member countries.

Sheridan said: "We punch well above our weight in this market having invested over GBP 1 million in developing the Quadrant jumper cable into what we believe to be the finest on the market".

"Early resistance soldered connectors were soon replaced by induction soldered versions using equipment and techniques designed in-house and we pioneered the longitudinally watertight design".

"Processes are continually evolving with improvements to electrical performance and weight reduction while maintaining the integrity against water ingress".

"We have, over the past two years adopted the latest lean manufacturing process in order to remain competitive in an increasingly tough market".
