D-sub connectors keep CANbus quiet

A Quadrant Connections product story

CANbus connectors offer option of metallised plastic hoods for EMI shielding.

Available now from Quadrant is a range of CANbus connectors from FCT, the Munich-based manufacturer of D-sub connectors, hoods and accessories.

Each node on a CANbus, used widely for industrial embedded control applications in noisy electromagnetic environments, uses a 9-pin D-sub connector.

With the FCT connectors, the hoods are made from UL94V1 thermoplastic in three colours to aid identification.

Violet and black hoods are unshielded, whereas the silver-coloured metallised plastic versions are shielded.

They are easily wired, and termination is via screw or patented push-down quick-connection technology.

They are supplied fully assembled, with integrated cable clamp/strain relief for cable diameters of 4.5 to 7.5mm.

Both three- and five-core versions are available.

Overall dimensions are 74 x 42 x 16mm, and the connectors have an operating temperature range -20 to +70C.

Interface versions for diagnosis and programming are also available with a second D-sub connector.
