QuickLogic has been awarded a certificate indicating its compliance with the Sony Green Partner Environmental Quality Approval Programme.

QuickLogic has been awarded a certificate indicating its compliance with the Sony Green Partner Environmental Quality Approval Programme.

The granting of the certificate complies with the environmental standards outlined in the SS-00259 of Sony's Technical Standards.

"QuickLogic has made a conscious effort to take environmentally friendly actions including the use of lead-free packages that can be reliably soldered to printed circuit boards using solder that contains markedly less lead than conventional approaches", said Reg Simpson, COO at QuickLogic.

"Through this programme, we believe Sony sends an important message to the industry about the importance of partnering for more effective environmental awareness and we hope other large industry leaders will adopt similar programmes".

Sony established the Sony Green Partner Standards in July 2001 with the aim of encouraging suppliers to introduce Green Partner environmental management systems.

In March 2002, Sony established a set of "management regulations for environment-related substances to be controlled which are included in parts and materials".

Environment-related substances to be immediately banned or reduced were identified, as well as their applications.
