These modules, which include disk storage and graphics controller technology, allow QuickLogic to deliver turnkey system solutions for a number of video over IP applications and add to the extensive Quick IP library that includes communication, DSP, microprocessor cores, networking, PCI and voice processing cores.
The initial focus will be in the integration of Quest's IP modules into the QuickMIPS family of programmable SoCs to deliver system solutions for a range of emerging market segments, including video and data streaming inside the enterprise and for in-car infotainment systems.
The industry-standard I/O interfaces included on the QuickMIPS device allow it to receive and transmit media on a wired or wireless network.

The combination of the programmable logic and the powerful on-chip 32bit CPU core efficiently processes, stores, and displays the video, data or voice information.

"Designers can implement system functions such as digital content management between the CPU core and the programmable fabric to improve system performance and ensure content providers' IP is protected".

QuickLogic's QuickCore programme has generated an extensive library of proven generic and application-specific IP cores, including connectivity and computational modules.
These cores can be easily implemented in any of QuickLogic's devices that have programmable logic, including QuickLogic's Eclipse II family of low power FPGAs, the QuickPCI product family, and the QuickMIPS programmable SoC devices.
Connectivity solutions include I/O modules such as Utopia and HDLC controllers, that are appropriate for communications systems and general-purpose peripherals such as I2C and PCI.
Computational modules such as AES encryption and voice compression engines offload the main CPU allowing the system designer to implement additional features, using the CPU bandwidth that has been freed up.
These IP modules, complementary software, and evaluation platforms result in a system solution being completed within weeks instead of the months required by ASIC approaches.
